I am an experienced Chartered Psychologist offering counselling and coaching to adults. I have 20 years experience of working in practise, where I offer a safe and confidential service. Although I work with a wide variety of psychological distress, my special interest is long term change in individuals so they can reach their full potential.
I am trained to Doctoral level in a variety of therapeutic models including Professional & Executive Coaching based models and Psychodynamic Therapy. I have an expert understanding of these models with rigorous past and ongoing experience that allows me to work with you in a way that suits your particular needs. I aim to work with my clients in a safe and supportive environment that is not based on assumptions about you or your behavioural goals.
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with experience in both short and long-term counselling. I am a going researcher in the field of Psychology which at present has culminated in 2 Books, 15 book chapters and over 50 peer reviewed articles.

Behaviour in the workplace and our lives is not random. The negative or sub-optimal behaviours we exhibit derive from previous experiences to threat where escape is thwarted in some way. People’s lives will be held hostage to fear until that visceral experience changes. Self-understanding and Self-regulation first depends on having a friendly relationship with your past. Without it people begin to rely on external regulation, from medication, drugs like alcohol, constant reassurance, or compulsive compliance with the wishes of others. This leads to isolation and no personal growth and ultimately a restricted life. Because most people often have trouble sensing why they are behaving in a certain way, they lack a nuanced response to frustration. My coaching method not only looks at your future goals as traditional coaching does but explores the blocks or frustrations that your past experiences have on your current behavior. This approach leads to a faster understanding of the self and enables you to reach new heights of productivity and fulfillment.
Psychodynamic Counselling is one of the major traditions within contemporary psychotherapy. Its aim is to help us achieve insight and understanding around the reasons for our problems, and to translate this insight into a mature capacity to cope with current and future difficulties. Counselling can really help people when they are having a difficult time, and need some support. It offers a confidential and safe space without judgement, with someone that will attentively listen and be there for you. It gives you the chance to take care of yourself and work openly through what you are feeling. It also enables you to look at what is really going on for you and can help to make sense of where they are. It can also help to challenge and change unhelpful patterns and behaviours, while enabling you to gain a deeper sense of who you are and from more intimate and fulfilling relationships
Many men believe that counselling is not for them. Rather than seeking help, many men prefer to struggle on alone, repeating past mistakes and meeting familiar problems. Everyone experiences problems and needs to be able to talk them through with someone, so you’re not alone. I have delivered therapy and counselling to men for over 20 years and provide an environment that is down to earth and allows you to get things off your chest without fear of being judged or criticised.
